Charlottesville-UVA-Albemarle Office of Emergency Management is offering free virtual emergency preparedness training. The CERT training level 1 class will provide a better understanding of local threats and hazards and how to prepare for disasters big and small. The one and half hour program will teach how to prepare your home and family for different types of threats and hazards, basic first aid, and fire safety. Their mission is to educate and prepare our whole community to mitigate the negative impacts of disasters.
Level 1 classes will be taught virtually using ZOOM. Level 2 will be conducted with an online program – you will need a computer to participate. This level is self-paced. We will have optional weekly evening workshops to review each unit, there are 9 units. (these workshops will be conducted virtually via ZOOM) Once level one is completed you will have the opportunity to sign up for level two.
